George C. Johnson, Shareholder
George C. Johnson is a shareholder in the firm specializing in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury and probate. He is a skilled attorney who recently won a rare defense verdict in a criminal trial in United States District Court.
George is a graduate of Dreher High School and later received a B.A. Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, George entered the University of South Carolina School of Law as a Webster Scholarship recipient. While a law student, he was on the Dean's Advisory Council, a member of the Black Law Students Association, a member of the Inns of Court and a member of the Moot Court Bar. George was Team Captain for the Craven Moot Court Team.
As a part of his training to become a lawyer, George served as a summer intern for Justice Jean Toal at the South Carolina Supreme Court. Additionally, he served as a law clerk at Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough law firm, Gedney Howe Law firm and Johnson, Toal & Battiste, P.A. His outstanding performance as a law clerk earned him a position as an associate. George became a shareholder with the firm in 2002.
George holds membership in local, state and national legal organizations. He was a counsel member of the Trial and Advocacy Committee of the South Carolina Bar Association and a member of the South Carolina Bar's Fee Dispute Board. George was a 2002 ABA General Practice Division Diversity Fellow and is currently a member of Council. Additionally, he is a member of the American Bar Association's Commission on Homelessness and Poverty.
George is married to the former Michelle Hurley and they have two daughters, Rachel and Ryann. |
